Bayer glucometer products have been at the forefront of the industry for several decades. Bayer’s Diabetes Care division has become one of the largest diagnostic businesses in the entire world, supporting more than 100 countries across the world. Bayer’s glucometer products have been setting the standard for diabetes care products ever since the release of Clinitest reagent tablets in 1941. The Bayer Corporation has made a number of firsts in the diabetes testing supply industry, including the Ames Reflectance Meter, the first portable blood testing meter in 1969, and the first personal blood glucose meter, the Bayer Glucometer, in 1981. In 2003 and 2006, the Ascensia Contour and Breeze were introduced respectively. Neither of these Bayer glucometers requires coding. The Contour system is the first single-strip testing system, and the Breeze which won the ease-of-use commendation from the Arthritis Foundation uses a disk that no longer requires that individual strips be handled.
